The tibialis posterior muscle is a key stabilizer of the medial arch, originating on the interosseous membrane and inserting on tarsal and metatarsal bones. Dysfunction or rupture can lead to adult-acquired flatfoot deformity, characterized by progressive collapse of the foot’s medial structure.
