Systemic vascular resistance

Systemic vascular resistance is the total resistance opposing blood flow in the systemic circulation. Elevated SVR increases the workload on the left ventricle and may reflect pathologic states like hypertension, shock, or vasospasm, guiding therapeutic interventions such as vasodilators.
