Pulmonary vascular resistance

Pulmonary vascular resistance quantifies the resistance blood encounters while traveling through the pulmonary circulation. Elevated PVR, as in pulmonary arterial hypertension, strains the right ventricle and can lead to right heart failure if not treated promptly.
