Mitral regurgitation

Mitral regurgitation is a valvular disorder where the mitral valve does not close completely, allowing blood to leak back into the left atrium. Chronic regurgitation can lead to volume overload of the left ventricle, eventually causing heart failure or atrial fibrillation if untreated.
