Inferior vena cava filter

An inferior vena cava filter is a mechanical device implanted to prevent pulmonary emboli by trapping venous clots. Indicated for patients with contraindications to anticoagulation or recurrent emboli, it may be placed temporarily or permanently, depending on clinical context.
