Inferior mesenteric artery

The inferior mesenteric artery branches off the abdominal aorta to supply the distal transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon, and rectum. Significant stenosis or occlusion can lead to ischemic colitis, requiring endovascular or surgical intervention in severe cases.
