Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a group of over 100 viruses, some of which are sexually transmitted. HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States. There are many different types of HPV, some of which are low-risk and cause genital warts, while others are high-risk and can cause cervical, anal, vaginal, vulvar, penile, and throat cancers.
