Gallium
Gallium had a role in validating Dmitri Mendeleev’s development of the periodic table. In 1871, Mendeleev predicted the existence of an unknown element he called “eka-aluminum” based on a gap in his table. Just four years later, in 1875, French chemist Paul-Émile Lecoq de Boisbaudran discovered gallium, which perfectly fit Mendeleev’s prediction. This discovery helped to establish the periodic table as a powerful predictive tool in chemistry.
