Fermium

Fermium was first identified in the debris of the “Ivy Mike” hydrogen bomb test in 1952. The element is named after Enrico Fermi, who made crucial contributions to nuclear physics. Fermium doesn’t occur naturally on earth and can only be produced in minute quantities through complex nuclear reactions. It is the heaviest element that can be produced through neutron bombardment of lighter elements.
