Deep tendon reflexes

Deep tendon reflexes evaluate the integrity of spinal cord segments and peripheral nerves by eliciting muscle contraction through tendon taps. Abnormalities, such as hyperreflexia or hyporeflexia, can indicate neurological dysfunction or pathology requiring further investigation.
