AVM

Arteriovenous malformation

Arteriovenous Malformation (Neurosurgery/Neurology): This is the most common medical use of AVM, referring to an abnormal tangle of blood vessels connecting arteries and veins, often found in the brain or spinal cord. It can lead to hemorrhagic stroke or seizures due to its risk of rupture.

Arteriovenous Malformation (Vascular Surgery): Outside the central nervous system, AVMs can occur in other organs or extremities, causing pain, swelling, and impaired blood flow. In some cases, they lead to skin ulcers or limb dysfunction.
