Systemic inflammatory response syndrome

Systemic inflammatory response syndrome is a clinical syndrome where two or more physiologic parameters—such as fever, tachycardia, leukocytosis, or tachypnea—indicate a systemic inflammatory state. It can arise from infection or noninfectious insults (e.g., trauma) and may progress to sepsis if pathogens are involved.
