Bare-metal stents

Bare-metal stents are metallic scaffolds deployed in arteries to maintain patency after angioplasty. Unlike drug-eluting stents, they lack a coating to inhibit neointimal hyperplasia; hence, dual antiplatelet therapy and vigilant follow-up are critical post-implantation.
