Estimated Vessel Equivalent

Measurement used to estimate the number of ceramic vessels from fragments. Estimated Vessel Equivalent (EVE) is a quantification method used in archaeological ceramic analysis to estimate the number of vessels represented in a pottery assemblage. EVE measures the preserved arc of a rim sherd (shard) as a percentage of a complete vessel rim.
