AABA
Music: 2 (A) sections, a bridge (B), another (A)
The AABA form is made up of four sections, each eight measures long, totaling 32 measures. The A sections are the same or slightly different, and contain the song’s primary melody. The title lyric often appears on the first or last line of each A section. The B section, also known as the “bridge” or “middle eight”, contrasts with the A sections. The B section may use a different harmony than the A sections.
AABA form was popular in Broadway musicals in the 1930s and remained a popular form of popular music until the 1950s. It was also common in older pop music, especially in the 1960s and earlier.
